On the job training can induce feelings of satisfaction within the employees due themselves feeling content with their levels of understanding, enjoyment, through the feeling of belonging as they feel cared for when they are taught something new from their employer, inducing a sense of comfort within the employee.

Training employees on the job statistically improves employee retention, as they are more likely to stay within a company that shows interest in their career development and understands their field of work. A study from LinkedIn found that 94% of employees said they would stay at a company where they felt supported, with job training being a significant factor.

With job training comes more experienced employees, studies shown by The Association for Talent Development show that employees who receive regular on the job training and reminds perform at a high-peak, rather than those without training in the same roles. This easily makes those employees future candidates for potential promotion ultimately leading in company progression and success.
Varying Job Training Methods
While on-the-job training has been the main focus of this article, it is worth discussing the different methods of on-the-job training. These include, but are not limited to;
- Rotational learning, this includes allowing your employees to get a gauge of the whole company and the different roles allowing them to gain better understanding of what is required of them.
- Shadowing, includes a mentor shadowing them for a couple of weeks and showing them how to perfectly execute their role, this will be followed up by performance checks.
- Internship/Induction, also increases the chances that your employee will perform better, as they gain the opportunity to have a small taste of the job and what it offers, before they start the desired role, allowing them to prepare for what is expected of them.

Induction is a big part of jobs, which can include, an Orientation, Document collections, pre job training, introductions to different tools/utilities, getting your equipment set up, etc. During this time, allow employees to ask questions, take their time, however, during this time do not allow employees, to feel overly confident, or quiet and avoiding to ask questions.

Good training managers can project the success of their employees upwards if their training is consistent and pure, allowing employees to stay in their positions longer and break free from the sickening feeling of not knowing how to perform well when going to work.
