Knowing and understanding your transferable skills are part and parcel of selling yourself for any new job. All the skills and experience you have gained throughout your career in previous jobs add up to your transferable skills and knowledge base that you can use to sell your abilities to a prospective employer.
What do you need to do to enable you to change industries? Thoroughly examine all the selection criteria of the job description, in particular any essential criteria the employer is seeking. You need to associate your skills with the competencies required for the position. Be clear and use key words in your descriptions on your Resume, Cover letter and in Interviews where and when you gained and used that skill.
If you have the skills required in the new job, but not experience in the same industry, this is where a transferable skill can be identified and articulated. Be clear in your own mind firstly how you can transfer your skill or skills across into another industry. Then you need to display that you are capable of performing a similar role, in any industry.
Lastly, if you actually lack a particular essential skill required in the new job, you can still display a keen interest in learning that skill and demonstrate/articulate your ability to pick things up easily.
