Headlines are everywhere about “The Great Resignation” happening around the world. A multitude of people have experienced a Pandemic Reset and decided NO to their pre-existing work arrangements, commutes and jobs.
Employers will have to entice employees with greater flexibility, benefits and increased pay to gain and retain staff. There are reports of staff shortages overseas and like everything else it will probably be replicated in Australia too, now that we are re-opening after lockdowns.
In a candidate friendly market, individuals who notoriously have trouble breaking in or getting a go, like school leavers, recent graduates, career breakers and mature agers will find there are greater opportunities to get that chance.
But this won’t last long. The cycle will return to an employer-driven market where there are more candidates than jobs and bosses can be choosy again.
So where does this leave you? Are you itching to take advantage of this opportunity?
- Are you ready or are you held back by not knowing which direction to take or lack of targeted job searching skills?
- Or is it a lack of up to date documentation like a resume and cover letter?
- Do you need to work on your mindset with actually putting yourself out there again if it’s been a while since you last attended interviews? Are you out of practice?
